Al Pacino signs on for Dan Fogelman's IMAGINE
Al Pacino is close to a deal to star in Dan Fogelman's directorial debut, Imagine. Fogelman wrote the upcoming Steve Carell comedic drama Crazy, Stupid, Love, which looks great. Earlier we reported that Carell was attached to star in the film about "a sixty-something Bruce Springsteen-type rocker discovers a long-unopened letter addressed to him from John Lennon; after reading it, he’s shocked to learn that he actually fathered a son (Carell). Unfortunately, Carell has been forced to drop out of the project becasue of scheduling conflicts, but Pacino may take on the role of the aged rocker.
Pacino's next role in Gotti: Three Generations will hopefully light a fire under his career. I am sure it won't take much to make up for his turn in Righteous Kill alongside Robert De Niro, which was shockingly bad. Fogelman is in high deman in Hollywood now. He also wrote Tangled, Cars and the upcoming My Mother's Curse starring Seth Rogen and Barbra Streisand.
What are your thoughts on this casting news? Do you think Pacino would be a good fit?
