CHERRY 2000 remake may star Melanie Griffith's daughter Dakota Johnson
Cherry 2000 was a pretty forgettable sc-fi film starring Melanie Griffith from 1987. It looks as though a remake is being considered by producer Ed Pressman, who has reached out to a few stars including Griffith. Surprisinly theactress recommmended her daughter, Dakota Johnson, take on the role.
Here is the synopsis from IMDb from the original film:
In the future, a man travels to the ends of the earth to find that the perfect woman is always under his nose. When successful businessman Sam Treadwell finds that his android wife, Cherry model 2000 has blown a fuse, he hires sexy renegade tracker E. Johnson to find her exact duplicate. But as their journey to replace his perfect mate leads them into the treacherous and lawless region of 'The Zone', Treadwell learns the hard way that the perfect woman is made not of computer chips and diodes, but of real flesh and blood!
Johnson had a small role in The Social Network, and will be seen in Five Year Engagement and 21 Jump Street. If you have not seen or heard of Cherry 2000, you are likely not alone. The film is nothing special and even laugable. Check out the trailer from the original film below and share your thoughts:
