Matthew Goode to play villain in Chan-wook Park's STOKER

Movie Stoker by

Matthew Goode (Watchmen) is in talks to play the villain in Chan-wook Park's Stoker for Fox Searchlight. If he signs on he would star opposite Mia Wasikowska and Nicole Kidman Park's US directorial debut. The script was written by Wentworth Miller (Prison Break) under the pseudonym Ted Foulke. Ridley and Tony Scott are producing the thriller with Michael Costigan under their Scott Free banner.

The story follows "a teenage girl who, while mourning the death of her father, must deal with the sudden appearance of a mysterious uncle (Goode)." Park has directed such films as Thirst and my personal favorite, Oldboy. This project is currently on the fast track to begin production soon.

Goode was one of the best parts of Watchmen, so this is great news as far as I am concerned. I love Park's dark directing style and I am sure that it will translate well to American audiences. The cast is already solid, so this is great news.
