Donkey Kong turns 30!

"He only gets better looking with age..."

Nintendo's vile villain turned loveable jackass turns 30 today, so to celebrate the life of our barrel blasting brigadier, I thought I'd throw down some knowledge that may interest you about one of the most popular Nintendo characters around...

1. Seth Gordan, Director of King of Kong: Fistful of Quarters, actually gave a copy to Colin Farrell in hopes he would imitate video game champ "Billy Mitchell" in Gordans newest feature Horrible Bosses.

2. Most Donkey Kong arcade cabinets in America were actually modified Radarscope cabinets that had been changed due to a poor response from American gamers regarding the game and it's "obnoxious chirping".

3. This Existed...

4. DK first got his tie in the GameBoy release of the original game.

5. Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy Kong's Quests Soundtrack is regarded as one of the best sound-tracks ever composed for the SNES...it also goes quite well with Biggie Smalls...

(to avoid conflict with Cracked.com) 6. Rare does not own the rights to Donkey Kong 64...so there's no reason it shouldn't be on your Virtual Console.

Happy birthday you damn dirty ape...

Following RR on Twitter is like counseling, except it's free and I can't give you medication...ok it's nothing like counseling...but maybe that's what you need right?: @Mickaplease
