Earlier we reported about a new political satire being developed by director Spike Jonze and writer Charlie Kaufman. Megan Ellison's Annapurna Productions was providing the cash to develop it. Not much was known at the time aside from the fact that the story was about "world leaders gather to figure out all the seismic events that will take place in the worlds, from oil prices to wars that will be waged."
Today Twitch is reporting that Warner Bros. has come bought the rights to the project. Joaquin Phoenix is attached to star in the film that will be produced by Vincent Landay. The project has a scheduled start date of March 2012.
I like Jonze as a director and would love to see him step in front of the camera again. Phoenix is a greaet actor and would be a great fit for this type of project. What are your thoughts on this news?
