THE LONE RANGER Casting - Helena Bonham Carter, Dwight Yoakam & Barry Pepper

Helena Bonham Carter, Dwight Yoakam and Barry Pepper are all currently in talks to join Gore Verbinski's big screen adaptation of the classic TV series the Lone Ranger. If everything works out they will joing the previously cast Johnny Depp as Tonto, Armie Hammer as The Lone Ranger and Tom Wilkinson as a railroad Tycoon.

In the new film Tonto will play a much bigger role in this film. The Lone Ranger's origin story begins with a group of Texas Rangers chasing down a gang of outlaws led by Butch Cavendish. The gang ambushes the Rangers, seemingly killing them all. One survivor is found, however, by an American Indian named Tonto, who nurses him back to health. The Ranger, donning a mask and riding a white stallion named Silver, teams up with Tonto to bring the unscrupulous gang and others of that ilk to justice.

This is a pretty solid cast being put together. "Carter will play the madam of a brothel who deals with gentlemen and scoundrels, Yoakam would portray the film's central villain, Butch Cavendish with Carter a brothel madam and Pepper appearing as 7th Cavalry Captain J. Fuller. Dale's potential role, meanwhile, is that of Dan Reid, brother to the Ranger's alter ego, John Reid."

The script for the movie was written by Pirates of the Caribbean screenwriters Ted Elliott, Terry Rossio and Justin Haythe. Filming is scheduled to start this fall for a December 21, 2012 release.
