SDCC 2011: UNDERWORLD AWAKENING 3D panel

The Underworld panel opened up with a bang by showing off over 2 minutes of footage from the film. The panel inclused Len Wiseman, Kate Beckinsale, Michael Ealy, Theo James and the directors Mans Marlind and Bjorn Stein. 

Beckinsale talked about her skin-tight latex costume for Selene. She referred to the suit as a "giant condom" and then the directors revealed that there were 8 different suits on the set. 

The directors then talked about how they came onto the project not knowing it would be in 3D and they decided to go all out an make some of this the best 3D as possible. 

It was great to see Kate back in the role of Selene. The footage really has me excited about this film. I had not

seen the third film, but I do not think that will hurt me when seeing this sequel. I hate to say it, but this looks as though it may be the best one of the bunch. 

Kate talked about her favorite scene in the film where she is sliding on her knees on the ground after slashing the knecks of a group of security guards. I can attest that it looks badass. 

The directors talked a bit about the films direction and said that fans of the first two will be very happy. Len Wiseman then revealed that he is interested in doing more Underworld films. He then talked a bit about the animated features that the DVD/Blu-ray will include that will "expand upon the storyline" into different areas that they can't go in on film. Len confirmed that Underworld franchise will never have glitter nor go into space. They have not planned out any storylines for future sequels, but did speak briefly about Selene having an "unknown daughter" 

I am actually excited to see this film when it arrives in theaters. The 3D does not look amazing to me, but I think it is definitely going to be a fun movie going experience. Are you looking forward to this film?
