Maybe THE AVENGERS Will Be at Comic-Con After All

If you look back at all the news that has been posted about The Avengers not being at San Diego Comic-Con this year, It's never mentioned that The Avengers won't have a presence there, that was only speculation. It was only announced that they wouldn't have a presence in Hall H.

Every year Marvel has a huge presence on the convention room floor, and I assumed that the comic book studio would at least have props for the film to show off like they did with Thor last year. Of course there is going to be some kind of Avengers action going on somewhere. I've also been expecting Marvel to surprise everyone with some footage. If not in Hall H I speculate that if it did happen they would show it before the Marvel hosted screenings of Captain America: The First Avenger

Our friends over at Firstshowing got some inside intel one what we might actually be seeing from The Avengers at Comic-Con this year. Here are are some of the main points of what we could end up seeing,

  • Marvel will using S.H.I.E.L.D. as a viral marketing tool, you will be able to pick up custom S.H.I.E.L.D. badges like they did at WonderCon and Anahiem Comic-Con.
  • There will be set pieces from the film on the convention room floor in the Marvel area.
  • The Massive Helicarrier bridge from the film might be the centerpiece of the Marvel showfloor.
  • There will be S.H.I.E.L.D. vehicles and personnel all over the place.
  • There might be footage from The Avengers showing on screens on the showfloor.
  • Chris Evans (Captain America), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) and Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), might show up for signings at Marvel's booth.
  • The Captain America screening may be midnight screenings.
  • A Teaser trailer for the film might end up being shown.

There's a lot of "mights" in there, but chances are we are going to see some Avengers stuff which is cool. By doing this all on the show room floor it will give more Comic-Con attendees a chance to see what Marvel has planned, because not everyone can make it in the 6,000 seat Hall H, so the film will actually get more exposure on the floor.

I've gotta say, I'm happy to hear that there will be more Avengers stuff than previously believed, and that the stuff I was hoping would happen might. We really won't know for sure until there is an official announcement or until we get to Comic-Con. One thing you can be sure of... we will make sure to get it all covered for you.
