Mark Romanek to Direct CINDERELLA for Disney?

It looks like there's a chance that Never Let Me Go director Mark Romanek will end up developing a new live-action version of Cinderella for Disney. The studio is making an effort in trying to Romanek on board as the films director.

The film is based on a pitch from The Devil Wears Prada scribe Aline Brosh McKenna that Disney bought last year in a seven-figure deal. All we know so far is that it will be a re-imagining of an already existing classic fairy tale, and insiders say "the prince is set for a politically arranged marriage, until the evil plan is threatened when the prince meets Cinderella."

Romanek is a great director, and if he ends up taking on this project, this movie could end up being better than what I was expecting. What do you think of the possibility of Romanek possibly directing Cinderella?
