McMurphy's Weekly Geek Rant - Henry Cavill is no SUPERMAN

Sometimes, I find myself wondering... why?  Like, why do we have so many remakes (reboots)?  Or, why does Hayden Christensen have a career?  You know, the important things in life.  Well, I have decided to save my sanity and the sanity of those around me by bringing these points of annoyance to you.  That way, if I have a valid reason to be upset, then you can join me in the nonsense.  Then again, if there is no weight to what I am saying, you can tell me to pull my head out of my butt.

My first weekly geek rant is about something that has rocked me to my core.  There are certain things that I feel should be done a certain way.  Charlie should always find the golden ticket, the Titanic should always sink and Superman should never look like he had a bad day at Supercuts.  You've all seen the picture, but take another look and I shall continue...

I was really, really excited for Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel.  The casting sounded perfect, and I love Snyder’s style, so I thought it was a no brainer... this movie would be awesome.  Then this first image of Superman came out... this dreaded picture.  As you know, the suit has changed and I think Henry Cavill looks like a reject from Goodfellas.  It's been out for a while now, and I want to like what I see.  It’s just so hard when Cavill looks like he should be in Grease, not Man Of Steel.  For me the whole Superman package just looks off, and I wish I had the power and influence to tell Snyder that, because unfortunatley I think he dropped the ball.

Ok, maybe I am being a little harsh, but I hate it when my favorite characters get messed up by someone who thinks they know what they are doing.  I mean, seriously, would you want this Superman saving you or Christopher Reeve's Superman?  I think if Henry Cavill showed up I would tell him that I would just wait for Aquaman to show up.  Let me know what you think.

McMurphy Out!

I know that I have gotten under the skin of a few of you, and that's understandable.  I am just giving you my first impression of the picture.  As you know Superman is a very iconic figure and no one wants to see him go down in flames.  I am just not sure if Cavill has the classic look that I was expecting from the Man of Steel.  I have very little gripe about the suit. I am still going to see the movie.  I want to be proven wrong about Cavill's ability to bring the the awesomeness out of the character.  As of right now, I am not convinced.
