Bruce Campbell on EVIL DEAD Remake - We’re not farting out a sequel

This remake of Evil Dead is happening whether you like it or not, and as a fan of Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell and the original films... it's hard for me not to be excited! I can't wait to see how this new Evil Dead film will turn out, and it sounds like Campbell is just as excited for this to happen as I am. He's completely on board with the remake, and is trying to get the fans pumped up for it as well.

According to Screen Rant Campbell was at Wizard World Chicago, and while there he "joked that the Evil Dead remake was a 'parting gift' to investors, who had been waiting on some type of new installment in the franchise for years. Campbell said they wanted to make a film that, 'wasn’t shot in 16MM, where you can’t see the garden hoses spewing the blood.'  Campbell then went on to describe the film as being a more 'sophisticated' version of the Evil Dead story."

Campbell went on to talk about the director chosen to take on the film project, Fede Alvarez, and the new approach they are taking.

We will be heavily involved in it. Sam Raimi hand-picked Fede Alvarez to direct it… It’s not like we’re just tossing this thing out and farting out a sequel. It’ll be kind of a hand-made movie with a young filmmaker who is more experienced than we were when we made the first one, who will be casting more experienced actors than we had, so I don’t see how it could be any worse.

I agree, It couldn't really be any worse. As much as I loved the first films, they still could have been done better, I know the badness is all part of the charm, but that wasn't really main goal of Raimi and Campbell. In the beginning they set out on a mission to make a serious horror film. These guys are now going to bring something new to the table, and at the same time stay true to the original. They want to give us the Evil Dead film they've envisioned all of these years, so I say just let them do it. What do you think about Campbell's thought's on the film?
