Joe Manganiello joins Steven Soderbergh’s MAGIC MIKE

True Blood fans rejoice, you will be able to see more of Joe Manganiello on the big screen. EW reports that Manganiello has joined the cast of Steven Soderbergh's Magic Mike. He joins that includes Channing Tatum, Alex Pettyfer, Matthew McConaughey and Matt Bomer.

The script was written by Reid Carolin and tells the real-life story of Tatum'early career as a male stripper. According to Deadline, Tatum plays the title character, "who schools a young dancer (Pettyfer) in how to hustle on and off the stage. It's a wild summer of dancing, partying, and women. The inspiration was Channing's own experiences as a stripper when he was 19." Tatum and Nick Wechsler are producing with Gregory Jacobs and Carolin.

Manganiello will play Big Dick Richie, but no other details are known about the role. Filming is slated to begin in September. The actor was rumored to be one of the frontrunners at one time for Superman. While this is no Man of Steel, he will at least be in what is shaping up to a high profile film.
