Michael Fassbender Offered Lead Role in PRISONERS

The film project Prisoners has been trying to get to the big screen for a couple of years now. Antoine Fuqua was originally attached to directed it, but was eventually replaced by Denis Villeneuve (Incendies). There have also been a few great of actors attached the movie as well over the years which includes, Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Wahlberg, Christian Bale. Apparently all of them have fallen through.

Today it's being reported that Michael Fassbender (X-Men: First Class) was actually offered the lead role in the movie. Prisoners is a dark story that centers on a small-town carpenter (Fassbender) who, after his daughter and her friend are kidnapped and the cops fail to solve the crime, takes matters into his own hands, holding hostage the person he suspects committed the crime. He also comes into conflict with the big-city detective assigned to the case. The story has drawn comparisons to a number of hit thrillers involving distraught or grieving parents, including Taken and Mystic River.

Fassbender is a great actor, and I think he would do a fantastic job in this role. The movie isn't anything we haven't really seen before, but with a solid script and great actors it could end up a film worth watching.

What are your thoughts on Fassbender possibly starring in this movie?
