DEAD LIKE ME Screenwriter to take on VIKING Film

Movie by Joey Paur

Karl Gajdusek writer of the fantastic TV series Dead Like Me has been hired by Working Title to rewrite a screenplay for film called Viking. The film is set to be directed Iclandic filmmaker Baltasar Kormakur, who is currently finishing up a film for Universal Pictures called Contraband.

According to THR the Viking project is meant to be in the vein of Braveheart and Apocalypto but set in the world of the horned-helmeted warriors. "The story involves the savage Norsemen bringing Irish slaves to Iceland." Mel Gibson was supposed to make an awesome sounding Viking film with Leonardo DiCaprio before the shit hit the fan with his ex-girlfriend. After that his viking movie just kind of fadeded away. Now this film is happening and it's being compared to two other Gibson films.

I'm a big fan of viking history, and would love to see an awesome film about them. I hate that we will most likely never see Gibson's vision, but this could turn out to be a solid film. We just don't know enough about it right now.

Gajdusek recently wrote the upcoming Nicole Kidman and Nicolas Cage thriller Trespass, and worked on the Liam Neeson thriller Unknown. He also worked on the script for Joe Kosinsi's Oblivion film which has Tom Cruise set to star.
