Sylvester Stallone Shuts Down RAMBO V
Since Sylvester Stallone's fouth Rambo was released there's been talk of a fifth Rambo film happening. Before today the last thing we heard is that it would more of a sci-fi film focused on Rambo hunting down some kind of genetically engineered man creature. I'm serious, there was even a official synopsis and poster sales art released, you can read all about there right here.
Stallone is now saying that the movie is no longer happening. In a recent interview he explains saying,
I think Rambo’s pretty well done. I don’t think there’ll be any more. I’m about 99% sure. I was going to do it, I said I’d never talk about this, but with I feel that with Rocky Balboa, that character came complete circle. He went home. But for Rambo to go on another adventure might be, I think, misinterpreted as a mercenary gesture and not necessary. I don’t want that to happen. I’m very happy with the last Burmese episode, because I didn’t pull any punches on it. I wanted it to be what civil war really is – rough. You can’t candy coat it, and where do you go from there? So that’s [Rambo V] going to go.
He's absolutely right. I enjoyed the last Rambo film, and I thought it was a perfect end to the character. There's no reason for him to come back and fight genetically engineered soldiers. That can be a seperate movie on it's own without John Rambo, if he wanted to do that. But Rambo is done.
Stallone did reveal that he is working on a directors cut of his last Rambo, which will restore twelve minutes to the movie, "including a surprising outburst of loquaciousness for the mumbling man of action at the movie’s beginning." That could be interesting.
What are your thought's on Stallone passing on Rambo V?
