Leonardo DiCaprio to star in Martin Scorsese's remake of THE GAMBLER

Leonardo DiCaprio is set to reteam with Martin Scorsese on a remake. Deadline reports that DiCaprio is attached to star in a remake of The Gambler. James Caan starred in the original 1974 drama about an "academic whose gambling addiction begins to get the best of him. His gambling addiction got to the point where he convinces a student athlete to shave points so he can win a bet, and the high he experiences from risking everything takes him into even darker places."

The remakes script is being penned by William Monahan, and the project is planend as a potential directing vehicle for Scorsese. The actor just wrapped J. Edgar directed by Clint Eastwood, and he’s playing Jay Gatsby in Baz Luhrmann’s remake of The Great Gatsby, based on the F. Scott Fitzgerald classic. After that wraps, the DiCaprio will take a turn as the villain in the Quentin Tarantino-directed Django Unchained for The Weinstein Company.

DiCaprio is no stranger to working with Scorsese. He starred in Shutter Island, The Departed, The Aviator and The Gangs of New York. I have never seen the original, but I am down with any film DiCaprio is in. What are your thoughts?
