George Clooney Drops out of Steven Soderbergh’s THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E.

According to Deadline, actor George Clooney is in the process of dropping out of Steven Soderbergh's upcoming film project The Man From U.N.C.L.E. There's no reason given to why he left, but I imagine there's some kind of scheduling conflict. Warner Bros. still plans on moving ahead with the production later this year as planned, they'll just have to recast the part.

The film is based on the 1960s light spy drama TV series starring Robert Vaughn and David McCallum. U.N.C.L.E. aired on NBC from 1964-68, during a Cold War period that saw numerous spy shows hit the airwaves. James Bond author Ian Fleming was even a creator of the show, which focused on the adventures of American and Russian members of a secret agency called the United Network Command for Law and Enforcement.

Clooney has starred in six of the Soderbergh's films over the years including Solaris, The Good German, Ocean 11, and Out Of Sight. They also co-owned the now-defunct Section Eight which produced Syriana, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind and Good NightAnd Good Luck. After everything they've worked on together it's kind of weird that Clooney is choosing to drop it. Who do you think will come in to replace him? One of Soderbergh's other usual suspects?
