During MTV's Video Music Awards last night they aired the first teaser trailer for The Hunger Games. The trailer ended up not really show much of anything, Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) running through a fiery forest and shooting an arrow. I'm excited to see the Gary Ross directed film adaptation of this awesome book, but the trailer didn't really do much to get me any more excited than I already am. To be honest though, I wouldn't mind if they didn't relaese any more footage than this for the film just so I can watch it completely fresh. Of course that won't happen.
The story chronicles a dystopic Capitol which requires its twelve subjugated districts to pay tribute in the form of a teenage boy and girl, forced to participate in the annual "Hunger Games," a fight-to-the-death live televised event. Katniss Everdeen's little sister is chosen in the lottery to participate and Katniss volunteers to take her place. Although persevering through hardship is commonplace for Katniss, she must start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love in order to win the games and return home.
The movie is scheduled to hit theaters on March 23 2012. Check out the teaser below and tell us what you think!
