Takashi Miike’s NINJA KIDS to get Hollywood Remake

Movie Takashi Miike by Joey Paur

Earlier in the summer we showed you a fun trailer for Takashi Miike’s new kids action film Ninja Kids, and it looks like it could be a really cool movie, especially for the kids. For those of you not familiar with Miike's work, he's the director of recent films such as Ichi the Killer13 Assassins and Hara-Kiri: Death of a Samurai

The live-action film is based on the anime series Nintama Rantaro, which was adapted from the manga Rakudai Ninja Rantaro. The story follows a group of young ninjas, Rantaro and his friends, and the adventures they have while attending a ninja academy.  The film will premiere in Japan this July, and it stars Seishirô Katô as the main character Rantaro, who looks great in the role.

Negotiations are currently underway to adapt the property as a live-action film yet again for American audiences. I guess it was only a matter of time. I'm surprised we haven't seen a remake of the 1992 film 3 Ninjas yet.
