Game of Thrones Director Brian Kirk to take on THOR 2?

Game of Thrones director Brian Kirk is currently in talks with Disney and Marvel to take on the directing duties of Thor 2. Kirk has also directed episodes of Dexter, Luther and Boardwalk Empire. The guy has definitely been involved with some awesome TV projects, but this would be his first feature film. I think he could do a solid job pull it off. I'm still disappointed that Kenneth Branagh wont be doing it, but Kirk might be the right person to fill his shoes.

The sequel has already been given a release date for July 26th 2013. The script was written by Don Paynes, and it will most likely go into production soon. The studio should be making an official announcement soon. What do you all think about Kirk possibly taking on Thor 2?
