EVIL DEAD Reboot won't Include the Character Ash?

Movie Evil Dead by Joey Paur

When the Sam Raimi produced, Federico Alvarez directed reboot of The Evil Dead was announced there was no solid information on what the movie would exactly entail. We just assumed that it would basically be the same storyline with the same character with a few changes here and there, maybe a different tone. Basically a straight remake, but that doesn't look like what's going to happen.

Bruce Campbell is also involved with the film project, not only is he a producer, but he will also end up making a cameo appearance. According to a new report that appearance won't be as the character Ash. In fact, it's looking like Ash won't even be in this Evil Dead film.

Bloody-Disgusting reports that "Campbell, already confirmed for a cameo, took to Twitter where he dispelled any notion of Ash returning. "Who are they casting for Ash?" asked a fan. Campbell replied: "No Ash character currently," further stating, "Twitter fails when info gets fragmented. Last statement: ED remake is a re-telling. All bets are off & all involved love the new approach."

I don't know about you, but I take this as being great news! This means we won't have to watch another actor play this character. Campbell is the definitive Ash, and it looks like they took the necessary steps to preserve his legacy. This makes me happy, what make me even more happy and excited is that fact that everyone involved is also excited about this new approach, and that all bets are off.

What do you think?
