It looks like another Beauty and the Beast project is headed to the small screen, The CW is currently developing it's own Beauty and the Beast series, which will be based on the 1980s CBS drama that starred Ron Perlman as Vincent (The Beast) and Linda Hamilton as Catherine (The Beauty). I remember when my parents watched that show. I was a kid at the time and never really got into it.
The project has been set up at CBS studios, and it's described as a modern-day romantic love story with a procedural twist. Jennifer Levin and Sherri Cooper are set to write the project. This is the same team of people that wrote Brothers and Sisters, which is another show I haven't seen.
This isn't the only Beauty and the Beast TV project being developed right now. We previously reported that ABC is also putting together a reimagination of the story with Human Target writer Jonathan E. Steinberg who is also going to produce it. The story for this version is described as an epic fantasy reimagining of the public domain fairy tale about a girl forced to live with a beast in a castle who ultimately falls in love with him.
I imagine the ABC version will be better than the CW version just because ABC tends to develop better shows with higher production value. What are your thoughts on Beauty and the Beast making it's way back to the small screen, and which one do you think will be better?
