Sony releases video with mysterious date - What does Oct 5, 2011 mean?

Here is a mysterious teaser video just released by Sony, which features a bunch of references to PlayStation games past and present. At the end of the clip the date of October 5, 2011 is shown on the screen. This makes me wonder what Sony has up their sleeves.

PlayStation's Kevin Butler shared the video via tweet and said: "Shhh…I've got a little something special for you. But let's keep this between me and the 107,000 of you."
