Is Marvel Comics planning a relaunch of it's own?
Not to be out-done by DC Comics, Marvel Comics looks about to embark on a company-wide relaunch of it's own. Who could blame Marvel after DC having several of the new 52 breaking 200,000 copies sold. Marvel has just announced a one-shot titled Point One that will "set the stage for the biggest stories coming in 2012, according to Blastr.
Here is an excerpt from the press release:
"Point One is a massive one-shot of 64 all-new pages of story by the top creators in the business, setting the stage for the biggest stories coming in 2012. It is the starting point to what's in store for the world's most iconic characters and startling events. Point One serves as the launch pad for dynamic new series, the return of fan-demanded characters, and a shocking teaser that will have everyone talking. See how all it comes together in one gigantic epic!"
That title sure does seem similar to DC's Flashpoint ,but I am sure it will sell. It was also announced that time-traveling mutant, Cable is will be returning. His return could be the hint at more:
"How has Cable been reborn? Where has he been since "Second Coming"? And what dark event has driven him to destroy the Avengers? The answers are just the tip of an iceberg that threatens to smash the Marvel Universe to smithereens!"
If that wasn't enough evidence of a Marvel relaunch, you have the Ultimate books, X-Men, and Spider-Man. At this time it's not known the extent of the reboot Marvel has planned, but it looks like they have something planned. What are your thoughts of this possible relaunch?
Update:
Ryan Penagos (@Agent_M) replied via Twitter and said the following:
"The answer is "No." Point One isn't a relaunch. It's us continuing to be rad."
So there you have it! We were wrong and so was our source Blastr.
