Over the weekend it was revealed that Oscar producer Brett Ratner wanted Eddie Murphy to host the Oscars, today it's been announced that Murphy has officially agreed to do it. So it looks like Murphy is going to host the 84th Academy Awards.
It's been years since I've seen Murphy do anything funny, so it's hard to get excited about him hosting the Oscars, had he hosted it in the 1980's or early 90's it would have been a different story because he was still doing funny stuff at the time. The last movie I saw that I really enjoyed him in was Steve Martin's Bowfinger.
There's basically two ways the 84th Oscars can go, it can be a complete disaster, or Eddie Murphy is going to blow up the house and prove to everyone that he's still a funny comedian. At this point I guess we can all look forward to seeing what he's going to bring the the event. It's honestly can't be any worse than last year.
What do you think of Murphy hosting the 84th Academy Awards?
