Is LOCKE & KEY headed to MTV?

Locke & Key may have a chance at making it on TV after all. Deadline reports that the series adaptation of Joe Hill and Gabriel’s graphic novel could end up at MTV after being passed on by Fox. The pilot was pennned by Josh Friedman and directed by Mark Romanek and was produced by 20th Century Fox, K/O Paper Products and DreamWorks TV.

Syfy had expressed interest, but ended up passing. The studios have been forced to let the actors options expire in June because of the rising costs of the thriller. IDW, the publisher of the Locke & Key comic, screened the pilot at Comic-Con. Last month we shared the trailer (HERE) that ended up going viral.  A DVD of the pilot was given to MTV programming chief David Janollari, who liked it enough to warrant meetings. MTV does have Teen Wolf, but this would be a definite departure for the network. I like the idea of this happening, but it will be interesting to see if MTV can agree to take on the budget to pull off the supernatural thriller.
