PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 5 Movie Update from Rob Marshall
Director Rob Marshall has offered a brief update on what is currently going on with Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean 5. A script for the fifth film was actually completed before Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides was even released. After the fourth film in the franchise got smothered with bad reviews producer Jerry Bruckhiemer wanted a rewrite because the script wasn't up good enough.
Here's what Marshall had to say about where that script currently stands, his involvement with the project suggests that he will most likely be back to direct it.
Terry [Rossio] is writing it and he’s working incredibly hard and he did a draft and rethought it all and started working on it again. You want to make sure you are asking the audience to come back to see an exciting adventure and it has to reach that caliber, and if not there’s no reason to do it. I know Johnny feels the same way: He needs to see a script, but he would be happy — if it’s the right script — to put that hat and sword back on.
I think I'm one of the few that actually enjoyed the fourth movie. I like the smaller scale of it. It was a more intimate story. However I hated that religious priest character, he was pointless. Even thought I liked the last movie, I still don't feel we need a fifth Pirates film, it's just a money grab machine that brings inthe bucks. But, maybe it will turn out good. We'll eventually know because this movie is going to happen.
Are you looking forward to a new Pirates film, or are you done with it?
