Sigourney Weaver Claims PROMETHEUS Was Her Idea!

Sigourney Weaver's Ellen Ripley character will not be in Ridley Scott's Prometheus, but that does not mean she did not have something to do with the film. According to The Independent (via Blastr), Weaver claims that Prometheus was her idea!

The Alien franchise played a major role in Weaver's career. Here is what she had to say about the franchise and the clashes that she had with 20th Century Fox:
Fox and I disagreed on how the franchise should continue. But I'm glad it's Ridley doing it, and I'll be as curious as anyone, or maybe more curious, to see it. I think he took my suggestion. Fox wanted to go to Earth, and I said: 'That's so boring. Who wants to see aliens on earth?' I said, 'Go back to the planet'.
The concept for the fifth film was to go back to the planet, but that movie never got made. Scott has been friends with Weaver for a number of years, so it is possible that the Prometheus' script was taken in part from Weaver's concept. It is also possible that Scott and Damon Lindelof came up with the concept on their own.
What are your thoughts on this news? Do you think Weaver had a hand in creating Prometheus' concept?
