Lily Collins Drops Out of THE EVIL DEAD Remake

The Evil Dead

remake from director

Fede Alvarez

is looking for a new leading lady.

Lily Collins

 (

Mirror, Mirror

) has been forced to drop out of the film due to scheduling conflicts.

Jeff Sneider from Variety (via

/Film

)

tweeted the following

:

“Again, in case you missed it, LILY COLLINS is OUT of THE EVIL DEAD reboot due to a scheduling issue. Agents, start your engines…”

Collins was reportedly set to play "the new Ash" in the films, a role made famous by

Bruce Campbell

in

Sam Raimi

's originals. Alvarez and team will have plenty of time to find a suitable (if not better) replacement in time for the scheduled April 12, 2013 release. The script was co-written by Alvarez and

Rodo Sayagues

.

Diablo Cody

(Juno, Young Adult) did a rewrite.

Here’s the synopsis:

Mia and David, estranged siblings who have recently lost their mother (Mia’s taking it the hardest being that she’s the one who spent most days at the hospital watching her mother deteriorate) have reunited, along with some old friends and his David’s fiancee, for an intervention at THAT old cabin. It’s here that the near rehabilitated Mia will also toss the last of her drugs down the well and finally go cold turkey.

This news is actually good in my mind. Collins would have been an interesting lead, but I thnk the character should be a bit older. I like the idea of a female version of Ash (if that is the case actually). There are a few names that come to mind to fill the role -

Noomi Rapace, Elizabeth Banks, Charlize Theron

What are your thoughts on this news? Who would you like to see in the role?
