Joel Edgerton Locked Down for Bin Laden Movie

Fighter star Joel Edgerton has been officially locked down to star in Kathryn Bigelow's (Hurt Locker) Navy Seal Bin Laden film that she's been developing with Mark Boal. Edgerton has been loosely attached to the project for almost a year, so it's nice to see everything fall into place. He's a great actor that should be awesome in this movie.

Edgerton will play a special ops Navy Seal. He will be joined by a few other actors who will take on roles in his team. The movie was being set up to tell the story of a previous, unsuccessful mission to take out Bin Laden. Now that there's been a successful mission killing the Al Qaeda leader the story has been updated. I'm interested to see how this story will end up being told, but there's no doubt it will be successful movie. This is a story the whole world wants to see.

The film is scheduled to go into production next month and will hit theaters on December 19th, 2012. A number of roles are still open, including a female reporter embedded with the Seal 6 team. Rooney Mara had been eyed for the part, but her The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo promotion schedule prevented her from taking it.
