Nic Cage and Hayden Christensen Join Period Piece Action Film OUTCAST

Looks like Ghost Rider and Anakin Skywalker are going back in time together.

The Wrap reports that Nicolas Cage and Hayden Christensen are attached to star in Outcast, a period piece film that takes place during the 10th Century and follows a warrior who tries to save a princess. The movie will take place in China and be filmed there too, becoming the latest in the recent trend of productions moving overseas in an attempt to capitalize on the massive Chinese audience. (Iron Man 3, Looper, etc.)

Stuntman Nick Powell is making his directorial debut with the film, which has a $25 million budget through Arclight Films. James Dormer (The Holding) wrote the script, and at this point we're not sure what roles either of these guys will be playing in the film. It's a safe bet that Christensen will be the warrior, but who will Cage play? Common sense would dicatate that he'd stay far, far away from period pieces following the disastrous Season of the Witch, but obviously he hasn't learned his lesson. We'll see if this project even gets off the ground at all, and who they can snag for a leading lady in the coming months.
