Lee Daniels to Direct Amy Adams in Janis Joplin

Precious director Lee Daniels is in talks to direct Amy Adams as Janis Joplin in a biopic called Get It While You Can. This is a project that's been cooking in Hollywood for years. Previously Fernando Meirelles and Catherine Hardwicke were attached to direct, and Renee Zelweger was attached to star.

The screenplay for the film was written by Ron Terry and his wife Theresa Kounin-Terr. The movie will follow the life of the hard-living singer and songwriter during the 1960's who created such classics as "Piece of My Heart" and "Me and Bobby McGee." She died of a heroin overdose in 1970, just a few weeks after Jimi Hendrix died of his drug overdose.

Joplin led an interesting life and I'm sure it will make for a good movie. Daniels is a great choice to develop the movie, and it will be interesting to see Adams in this role. The plan is to get the film into production in early 2013. What do you think about Daniels directing this film and Adams playing Joplin?
