GHOSTBUSTERS 3 to Start Shooting Next Summer?!
We've been following Ghostbusters 3's long hard road to the big screen for several years now. I wasn't even sure if the movie would ever happen, but according to a report from Deadline the movie will start shooting next summer with director Ivan Reitman at the helm! Unsurprisingly, Bill Murray will not be a part of it.
The reports says that Reitman "is expected to finally get the long-gestating Ghostbusters reboot in front of the cameras next summer for Sony Pictures (sans Bill Murray)."
So it seems like this is actually going to happen! I'm just sad that Murray won't be back to reprise his iconic role of Peter Venkman. That is one of my favorite characters in movie history. Dan Aykroyd has confirmed reports that the plot of the film will revolve around a new generation of Ghostbusters and gave a little insight into his and Harold Ramis' characters.
My character, Ray, is now blind in one eye and can't drive the cadillac. He's got a bad knee and can't carry the packs... Egon is too large to get into the harness. We need young blood and that's the promise. We're gonna hand it to a new generation.
Screenwriter Etan Cohen (Tropic Thunder, Men in Black 3) was recently hired to rewrite the script, which was originally drafted by Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg.
I want to be excited about this franchise making a comeback, but it's hard to envision a great Ghostbusters movie without Murray. Are you excited to hear that the movie is moving forward?!
