Will Ms. Marvel Show Up in THE AVENGERS 2?

I'm sure Joss Whedon is hard at work developing the script for The Avengers 2, and other than the usual suspects - Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson and everyone else - I think it's way too early for the studio to even think about casting anyone else for the sequel until the script is done. Unless they plan on including any of these new characters in one or more of the upcoming Marvel films leading up to The Avengers 2.

According to a rumor that originated over at the Daily Mail, British actresses Emily Blunt (Looper) and Ruth Wilson (Luther) are in the running to play Carol Danvers a.k.a. Ms. Marvel (who was recently promoted to Captain Marvel) in the sequel. I personally don't think there's any truth to the rumor. As I said earlier, it just doesn't make sense to be casting the film this early in the process. But who knows, maybe they are looking to include Ms. Marvel in the film.

The site goes on to say that The Avengers 2 will be shooting next year, but according to a previous interview with Whedon he said that as of right now there's no time time table on when the movie will start shooting. I also don't see either of these actresses taking on this role.

Blunt was previously cast in the role of Black Widow for Iron Man 2, but had to drop out due to contract commitments with another studio. Just because she almost ended up playing Black Widow, doesn't mean she's going to be up for another role in any of the Marvel films. We'll know more about all this in a year or two.

What do you think? Would you like to see either of these actresses play Ms. Marvel?
