DreamWorks Looking to Greenlight HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON 3

Last year, DreamWorks Animation chief Jeffery Katzenberg revealed that there would be at least three How to Train Your Dragon films, maybe more. This is the comment he made on that,

...at least three: maybe more, but we know there are a least three chapters to that story. There are actually 8 books.

I've heard from a friend that works at DreamWorks that they've always planned to make three movies, but that nothing has been planned beyond that. Hell, just a month ago they gave the third chapter in the franchise a release date of June 18th, 2016!

Today, Deadline reports that Katzenberg is still looking at the possibility of a third movie in the franchise. Not sure if Deadline missed all of the other previous news on this movie, but if the studio already gave it a release date, then of course they are looking at possibly making it!

Maybe the studio just hasn't officially greenlit it yet, and there's a chance it might not happen now. But the site goes on to explain that the "company sees it as a potential opportunity to drive sales of licensed merchandise — which Katzenberg says will become 'a bigger part of DreamWorks Animation going forward than it had been.' He wants at least one of the three movies it releases each year to have 'a clear, forward leaning consumer products opportunity.' He says that Turbo (due in 2013) Dragons 2, and Trolls (2015) would fit the bill. The company also plans to bring in 'high caliber manpower' to help drive its products initiatives."

How to Train Your Dragon 2 is set to be released on June 20, 2014. I liked the first film, and I'm looking forward to seeing the story continue. Do you have any thoughts on a third How to Train Your Dragon movie?
