A&E has released two great promo teaser trailers for their new psychological thriller TV series Bates Motel, which is inspired by Alfred Hitchock's Psycho. The teasers show us that there is some pretty twisted stuff going on in this crazy little hotel and town.
The series gives us the origin story of Norman Bates dark, twisted past, from childhood through his teen years. It will chronicle how his mother, Norma, and her lover screwed Norman up, shaping him into the crazy serial killer that he became. The story also won't be limited just to what occurs in the rooms of the motel. It will also focus on the the town itself. Carlton Cuse (Lost) says, ''There are a lot of secrets that lurk beneath this bucolic veneer."
Bates Motel, serves as a contemporary prequel to the genre-defining film, “Pyscho,” and promises to give viewers an intimate portrayal of how Norman Bates’ psyche unravels through his teenage years.
Fans will have access to the dark, twisted backstory and learn first hand just how deeply intricate his relationship with his mother, Norma, truly is and how she helped forge the most famous serial killer of them all.
The first episode of the show is called "First You Dream, Then You Die", and here's its description, “Norma Bates buys a motel on the outskirts of an idyllic coastal town seeking a fresh start with her teenage son, the handsome and shy Norman.”
The series is set to premiere in 2013, and I'm excited to see how it turns out! Enjoy the teasers!
