FINAL FANTASY XIII: Lightning Returns is a Journey Through our Final Days

Whether you like the idea or not, Final Fantasy XIII: Lightning Returns acts as the final chapter in the Chrystallis Saga of games. Lightning Returns focuses on the final 13 days of our existence, and while not much is known about the actual plot-line, how you influence the story has been somewhat revealed. As you accomplish certain things in the game, you are able to "add" more time to the countdown, which is always ticking down to 0 in the background. The game will end after the final 13 days pass, and while certainly a bit different from many RPG's, that's not necessarily a bad thing. Now, I thought Final Fantasy XIII-2 made a lot of strides toward a more traditional role playing experience, much to my delight. So far from what I've seen of LR, they seem to be going away from that again, but I'll withhold judgement until I get some hands on time with the game. I'm always up for experimentation, but I think most of us can agree that the original XIII was a bit too experimental for its own good. That said, LR looks interesting, and the stellar combat from the previous entries seems to be making a return, but not quite sure how fun it will be without multiple party members. Again though, withholding judgement. Check out the trailer and let us know what you think!
