TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES Could Be Directed by Jonathan Liebsman

Battle: Los Angeles director Jonathan Liebesman is currently in negotiations to direct a new live-action reboot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for Paramount Pictures and Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes Productions.

There's no information on the story details from the script written by Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec, but I think it's safe to say that this is going to be a dark, gritty, violent, action film, unlike any other TMNT production we've seen before. At least, that's what I'm hoping for!

I grew up on the ninja turtles franchise, which began as a black and white comic book series in 1984. It then escalated into mainstream popularity when it became a hit animated series in 1987. After that, we got the first awesome live-action film in 1990, which spawned two live-action sequels, a live-action TV series, a second animated series, and a great CGI feature film. As a fan, I have no issues with seeing a new updated reimagining of these classic characters. There's so much more they could do with them these days with the technology we have.

Libesman seems to have a handle on creating good action. I liked what he did with Battle L.A. and he's currently directing Wrath of the Titans. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles seems like a film production that would be a great fit for him. It would be cool if he ended up taking on the challenge, I'd like to see what he could do with the material and characters. What are your thoughts on the possibility of Liebsman taking on the Ninja Turtles?
