TRANSFORMERS Scribe Boards Disney's MATTERHORN

Walt Disney's untitled Matterhorn-themed movie project has found its writer. THR reports that Ehren Kruger (Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Scream 4) has been hired to help pen the second draft of the script. Jason Dean Hall wrote the first draft, and first-time feature director Brian Beletic is attached. Justin Springer (Tron: Legacy, Prom) is producing the project.

The story sounds like it could be a nice mix of thrills and action. It centers "on five young adventure seekers -- an action sports guy, travel guide, cartographer, archeologist and escape artist -- who venture into the Alps for mysterious reasons and face Yetis that guard a secret."

The initial concept was derived form the Matterhorn ride at Disneyland, but the scope has since been broadened. Disney is trying to create a hardcore adventuring theme to the film. Brain Farm Cinema, who are pros at filming extreme sports, have been hired as production consultants.

A scribe with a track record of getting films produced, Kruger’s work ranges from The Ring horror movies to picking up where Kevin Williamson left off with Scream 3 and Scream 4, to working on Transformers tentpoles Revenge of the Fallen and Dark of the Moon.
