William Fichtner Cast in THE LONE RANGER

William Fichtner has replaced Dwight Yoakam as the villain Butch Cavendish in Gore Verbinski's feature film adaptation of The Lone Ranger. Yoakam recently had to drop out of the film due to scheduling conflicts. Fichtner is a great character actor that has been in several TV shows and film projects such as Prison Break, Entourage, The Dark Knight, and Black Hawk Down and just completed shooting Neill Blomkamp's Elysium with Matt Damon and Jodie Foster. There's no doubt that he'll be great as an old west villain.

Tonto will play a much bigger role in this version of the film. The Lone Ranger's origin story begins with a group of Texas Rangers chasing down a gang of outlaws led by Butch Cavendish. The gang ambushes the Rangers, seemingly killing them all. One survivor is found, however, by an American Indian named Tonto, who nurses him back to health. The Ranger, donning a mask and riding a white stallion named Silver, teams up with Tonto to bring the unscrupulous gang and others of that ilk to justice. Johnny Depp (Dark Shadows) will play Tonto and Armie Hammer (The Social Network) will be playing the Lone Ranger himself.

I love westerns, and I hope this adaptation of The Lone Ranger turns out to be awesome. Disney's spending $216 million dollars on it, so it better be good! What are your expectations for this movie? Are you looking forward to it? Or do you not even care?
