George Lucas Claims Han NEVER Shot First in Star Wars
George Lucas has finally come out and addressed the controversial "Han Shot First" Star Wars issue, only he claims that Han NEVER shot first. That's right, apparently in the original cut of the Star Wars film, which has since been changed, Greedo shot at Han first. Apparently the scene just wasn't clear to audiences over all these years so he had to go in a make it clear, and make us understand that Han Solo is not a cold-blooded killer.
The fact of the matter is Han did shoot first! Lucas obviously hasn't watched the scene in question in a very long time because it's quite clear to me who actually shot first. But just to humor you here's how Lucas recently explained it in an interview with THR:
The controversy over who shot first, Greedo or Han Solo, in Episode IV, what I did was try to clean up the confusion, but obviously it upset people because they wanted Solo [who seemed to be the one who shot first in the original] to be a cold-blooded killer, but he actually isn’t. It had been done in all close-ups and it was confusing about who did what to whom. I put a little wider shot in there that made it clear that Greedo is the one who shot first, but everyone wanted to think that Han shot first, because they wanted to think that he actually just gunned him down.
This is the most direct answer to this epic Star Wars question that Lucas has ever given. The question I have for you is... do you believe him? Do you believe that Greedo shot first like he claims? Or like me are you steadfast in your belief that Han killed Greedo's ass in cold blood?
To help you decide you can watch the un-changed version of the scene and the changed version of the scene to compare.
