Morgan Freeman Joins Tom Cruise For OBLIVION

Joseph Kosinski's (Tron: Legacy) Oblivion has added Morgan Freeman to its cast. Superherohype reports that Freeman will join Tom Cruise, Andrea Riseborough, and Olga Kurylenko in the sci-fi film for Universal Pictures. Oblivion is based on Kosinski's comic book series from Radical Publishing. The story is described as follows:

In a future where the Earth's surface has been irradiated beyond recognition, the remnants of humanity live above the clouds, safe from the brutal alien Scavengers that stalk the ruins. But when surface drone repairman Jak discovers a mysterious woman in a crash-landed pod, it sets off an unstoppable chain of events that will force him to question everything he knows.

William Monahan and Karl Gajdusek wrote the first draft of the script, which is currently getting a rewrite from Michael Arndt. A July 19, 2013 release date is planned. I have always liked Freeman in just about every movie he's been in. His screen presence and voice are always so commanding.
