M. Night Shyamalan and Will Smith have started production on their new sci-fi film project, After Earth. It's surprising to me that M. Night is actually getting to make another film. The guy is making one flop after another. The only reason this new film has any shot at succeeding is because it stars Smith who is a big box office draw.
The story is set 1,000 years in the future and features a young boy played by Smith's son Jaden who navigates an abandoned and sometimes scary Earth to save himself and his estranged father after their ship crashes.
Shyamalan wrote the script with Gary Whitta and Stephen Gaghan, and it's scheduled to be released in theaters on June 7th, 2013. Here's a bunch photos and a video for you to check from the set of the film. Do you think Shyamalan has got it in him to make another good film worth seeing?
