Emma Roberts Joins EMPIRE STATE

Emma Roberts has joined the cast of Dito Montiel's Empire State. Variety reports that the Scream 4 actress will star opposite Liam Hemsworth and Dwayne Johnson in the drama that starts shooting in the spring. 

Empire State was penned by Adam Hazer based on real events from 1982. Hemsworth plays "one of two friends from Queens who plan to rob an armored car depository with Roberts getting the role of the waitress who acts as his love interest. Johnson plays the New York detective assigned to the case of solving the crime." 

Montiel's first film, A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints, was also set in Queens and starred Shia LaBeouf and Channing Tatum. He also directed Fighting and last year's police drama The Son of No One, both which starred Tatum. Johnson begins filming Michael Bay's Pain and Gain starting next month, so it will be interesting to see how he fits this film in as well.
