DR. HORRIBLE Sequel to Finally Shoot This Summer!?

Movie Joss Whedon by Joey Paur

For those of you who have eagerly been awaiting a sequel to Joss Whedon's Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, you will be happy to know that the wait is almost over! The Avengers director plans to produce the sequel and get it into production very soon. It could actually start shooting as early as this summer! Wired recently caught up to the director and asked him about it, in which he replied,

We are hard on it. It’s been a really tough year — couple of years — partially, I’m happy to say, because of work. We do have a number of songs written. We have a whole outline.

He goes on to say that the hold up on the project has been people's schedules. Neil Patrick Harris, Nathan Fillion, and Falicia Day seem to all be keeping very busy these days.

We’re stuck, basically, at this one part in the process. All of us are looking at this summer as the time when we can go, ‘Hey, you know what? We’ve got a little free time, let’s get unstuck.’ Neil has been like, ‘How long?’ We’re all sort of just waiting, but the waiting will stop.

So no matter what happens we are going to see a sequel, and it's sounding like this is going to be the summer of Dr. Horrible villainy.

Whedon, his brothers Jed and Zack, and Maurissa Tancharoen brought Dr. Horrible to life during the 2007-2008 writer’s strike. It was shot fast and cheap, then released in three parts as an exclusive online miniseries. From there it blew up and gathered a huge fan-base that has been waiting on edge for this story to continue, and Whedon is going to make it happen.

Are you excited to hear that you won't have to wait much longer for this awesomeness?
