The lovely Scarlett Johansson (The Avengers) has been cast in director Sacha Gervasi's (Anvil, The Story of Anvil) film Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho. She will play Janet Leigh, who was famously stabbed to death in the shower in the film. James D'Arcy was cast in the role of Anthony Perkins, who played Norman Bates. The two actors will join Anthony Hopkins, who is playing Hitchcock, and Helen Mirren, who plays his wife.
The story of the film will follow Hitchcock and his struggles during the production of the classic horror film. According to Variety, this movie "has drawn comparisons to My Week With Marilyn, and...the role of Janet Leigh could lead to the same awards consideration for Johansson that the Marilyn Monroe role did for Michelle Williams."
I think Johansson is becoming a much better actress, and I really enjoyed her performance in Cameron Crowe's We Bought a Zoo, which was an all-around wonderful film. I think she will end up be great as this film's leading lady.
The script was written by John McLaughlin and Tom Thayer. Ivan Reitman, Joe Medjuck and Tom Pollack will produce the film.
What are your thoughts on Johansson taking on the role of Janet Leigh?
