BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYERS's Anthony Head Joins PERCY JACKSON Sequel

Buffy the Vampire Slayers' Anthony Head has been cast in Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Sea of Monsters. THR reports that the prolific British-born television and film actor will be stepping in for Pierce Brosnan to play Chiron. Head recently starred in The Iron Lady and TV's Merlin. Chiron is an important character in the films and is in charge of Camp Half-Blood, where demigods are trained and protected.

Thor Freudenthal is directing the sequel, which is set for release in 2013. Logan Lerman, Alexandra Daddario, Brandon T. Jackson, and Jake Abel are returning in the lead roles. Earlier we reported that Nathan Fillion is set to play Hermes. The film is based on Rick Riordan's books. Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief grossed $226.5 million worldwide in 2010.

I enjoyed the first film, and think the sequel is shaping up well. Fruedenthal is a solid choice to direct, and he will hopefully bring some new energy to the franchise. Do you think that Head will make a good Chiron?
