Here's a a new some new behind the scenes photos from the set of The Avengers showing Joss Whedon directing his Avengers, and a poorly designed international poster. Whedon also gave a little statement recently explaining to Total Film the different power levels of the Avengers that he called the hierarchy of power. Basically each blow an Avenger lands on an opponent has a different affect.
If this guy hits someone, he falls down. If this guy hits someone, he flies backwards. Its very complicated.
He also talked about servicing the characters in the story of the film,
I had to find a way to service all the characters, to figure out why they're in the room in the first place. My biggest concern was that if I didn't pay enough attention to minutiae then the film would become generic in its concepts and visuals. Or that I'd be so concentrated on those things, I'd look around and the film wouldn't be about anything.
I think we should all be gratefull that Marvel offered this gig to Whedon, and to Whedon for taking on the challenge. I think he's going to deliver the a near perfect film. The movie hits theaters May 4th, 2012!
