TROLL HUNTER Director Signs On for CARPE DEMON

Troll Hunter director Andre Øvredal has signed on to his first Hollywood feature film. Empire reports that the Norwegian director is attached to direct Carpe Demon: The Adventures Of A Demon-Hunting Soccer Mom, which is being adapted from Julie Kenner's book.

The project reminds me of an adult version of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Its story follows "Kate Connor, a woman living a life of suburban domesticity and trying to put her secret past as a slayer of demons firmly behind her. Except that her plan comes undone when underworld denizens start surfacing in her adopted hometown of San Diablo."

The book is the first of five installments to date, with Carpe Demon being followed by California Demon, Demons Are Forever, Deja Demon, and Demon Ex Machina. Dan and Kevin Hagerman (Hotel Transylvania) penned the screenplay. A start date and cast have yet to be announced.

Chris Columbus' 1492 production company currently own the rights to the project. 1492 is currently planning an English-language Troll Hunter remake. If you have yet to see the original film, I highly recommend you watch it. Øvredal mixes the humor and horror perfectly, and I think he is a perfect choice for this film.

Who is your favorite foreign director that has started making Hollywood films?
