CHRONICLE 2 Will Be Written by Max Landis

Chronicle screenwriter Max Landis has been hired by Fox to write a sequel to the superhero sci-fi film. The first film opened up last month and has made over $105 million dollars, which is pretty good for only a $12 million investment.

I enjoyed watching the first film that starred Dane DeHaan, Alex Russell, and Michael B. Jordan, who played three high school friends that accidentally obtained telekinetic superpowers. Because of this their lives start going out of control as their friendship is tested and one begins to explore the dark side and starts to take his aggression out on innocent people. His friends are forced to stop him.

The end of the film was left wide open for a sequel, so it makes sense that it's happening and that Landis will be writing it. The first film was entertaining, and I imagine the sequel will be just as fun. I do hope they ditch the found footage camera style the second time around.

Universal Pictures and Imagine Entertainment acquired a pitch from Landis called Amnesty last year that Ron Howard is attached to direct. Then early this year Disney grabbed an untitled adventure pitch from Landis as well.

What are your thoughts on Landis taking on Chronicle 2? Are you even looking forward to seeing a sequel?
